Handball was my passion until I was 18 years old. From the age of 12, I practiced top sports and trained at least 5 times a week. At the age of 12, I became a Dutch Champion with the ‘Noord-Holland Noord’ division team, and was also named as one of the top 5 players in the Netherlands from my age category. The following year, I was named as the best player in my age category. At the age of 14, I was selected for the Dutch national team under 16 and trained weekly at the National Sports Centre of the Netherlands, Papendal. In 2014, I played my first official international match for the Netherlands and in 2015, I participated in the European Qualification Tournament in Georgia. Unfortunately, I suffered an injury during the first game of the tournament, which resulted that I missed the European Championship. From September 2015 to May 2016, I lived at Papendal. However, due to Lyme disease and injuries, I stopped training at Papendal and playing for the Dutch National team. With my club, VZV, we played in the Eredivisie from September 2016 and I contributed to the team’s qualification for the European Cup that season. However, due to injuries, I had to make the difficult decision to stop playing handball in February 2017.
