Handball was my passion until I was 18 years old. From the age of 12, I practiced top-level sport and trained at least 5 times a week. At age 12, I became a Dutch Champion with the Noord-Holland Noord team, and was also named one of the top 5 players in the Netherlands in my age category. The following year, I was named the best player in my age category. At 14, I was selected for the Dutch national team under 16 and trained weekly at the National Sports Centre of the Netherlands, Papendal. In 2014, I played my first official international match for the Netherlands and in 2015, I participated in the European Qualification Tournament in Georgia. Unfortunately, I suffered an injury during the first game of the tournament, which led to me missing the European Championship. From September 2015 to May 2016, I lived at Papendal. Due to Lyme disease and injuries, I decided to stop training at Papendal and playing for the Dutch National team under 18 in May 2016. With my club, VZV, we played in the Eredivisie from September 2016 and I contributed to the team’s qualification for the European Cup that season. However, due to my health, I had to make the difficult decision to stop playing handball in February 2017.
